William Woods rolls past Williams Baptist for AMC win

Senior midfielder Amy Faus was responsible for a pair of goals Saturday as the Lady Owls overpowered the Lady Eagles 6-0 in American Midwest Conference play.

Faus produced unassisted goals in the 49th and 81st minutes - her first career multi-goal game - to spark William Woods University (3-4-1, 2-0-1 AMC). Junior midfielder Annie Graber scored the Lady Owls' first goal in the 11th minute, off an assist from junior defender Sarah Krispin, and junior midfielder Jordan McNamara tacked on an unassisted goal in the 22nd minute.

Faus' first goal made it 3-0 and freshman defender Alex Langford extended William Woods' lead with an unassisted strike in the 51st minute. Faus then put the Lady Owls up 5-0 and senior midfielder Brittainy German closed out the scoring with a goal in the 86th minute off a shared assist from McNamara and senior midfielder Rachel Meyer.

Sophomore Brittany Griffin - with one save - and junior Ashley Parisi split the shutout in goal for William Woods, which outshot Williams Baptist College (2-7, 1-4) by a solid 29-3 margin. The Lady Owls logged 13 shots on goal and eight corner kicks.

On Monday, senior midfielder Ashley Deckard was named AMC defensive player of the week for her role in William Woods' victory Saturday.

The Lady Owls return home for an AMC clash with Missouri Baptist University at 5 p.m. today at Firley Field.
