Fulton boys finish second at Marshall Invitational

Sparked by six medal-winning efforts, the Hornets came in second at the Marshall Invitational on Saturday.

Senior Grant Gaines was Fulton's top finisher, taking fifth place individually in 17 minutes, 48 seconds. Freshman Grant Gaines came in seventh in 18:11 and sophomore Tanner Steffen was 13th in 18:55.

Freshman Nathan Quick placed 15th in 19:05, sophomore Chaz Ballard was 16th in 19:06 and freshman Haydon Windsor was Fulton's final medalist with a 17th-place result of 19:13.

Sophomore Brendan Dungan took 31st in 20:15 to round out the Hornets' runners.

In the varsity girls' division, junior Rachel Quick earned a medal with an 11th-place time of 22:50 to guide Fulton to a seventh-place team finish. Freshman Adrea Shadbolt came in 31st in 24:16 and senior Megan Coleman took 36th in 25:56.

Senior Trezemae Wagaman finished 44th (27:32), sophomore Mary Hinchie earned 45th (27:54) and freshman Sydney York (33:47) claimed 49th in 33:47.

Senior Ian Shoemaker medalled for Fulton in the junior varsity boys' race, clocking a 10th-place effort of 21:04. Freshman Tyler Hickerson (21:26) earned 13th place and junior Aaron Hickman finished 15th in 21:35 to complete as the Hornets' final medal performer. Sophomore Caine Breedlove finished 44th in 26:06.

Fulton will run in the 10th-annual Laker 5K in Camdenton at 9:30 a.m. Saturday.
