Lady Bulldogs topple Lady Wildcats in SMC clash

Senior first baseman Kaitlyn Loucks and junior third baseman Ashley Miller each went 1-for-3 with an RBI in the Lady Bulldogs' 4-0 Show-Me Conference shutout of the Lady Wildcats on Thursday night.

South Callaway (14-5, 3-2 SMC) finished with seven hits.

Loucks ripped a two-out, RBI double in the first inning to score senior catcher Anna Bartley. Miller then plated sophomore starter Konnor Arrowood with an RBI single in the third to make it 2-0. South Callaway notched another run in the third on an error, then logged its final run on a sixth-inning miscue by New Bloomfield (9-5, 2-2).

Arrowood threw a complete-game shutout, scattering five hits, striking out four and walking one.

Sophomore starter Madison Love lasted just 1 1/3 innings in suffering the loss for the Lady Wildcats. Love gave up a run and three hits, while walking one. Senior first baseman Paige Ragar was 2-for-3 for New Bloomfield, while senior right fielder Taylor Howard was 1-for-3.

The Lady Bulldogs prevailed in the junior varsity game 3-2.

Both teams will play in the South Callaway Tournament on Saturday. The No. 2 Lady Bulldogs play No. 7 California at 8:30 a.m. at the softball field, while the No. 4 Lady Wildcats take on No. 5 Eldon at 10 a.m. at the baseball field.
