Portion of U.S. 54 named in honor of Holts Summit Police Sgt. Bryan Holohan

A portion of U.S. 54 in Callaway County was named in honor of Holts Summit Police Sgt. Bryan Holohan this week. Friends and family of Holohan gathered Monday night for a ceremony to recognize the designation of the section of U.S. 54 that goes through Holts Summit city limits as the "HSPD SGT Bryan Holohan Memorial Highway."

From 2002 through 2009, Holohan served as a police officer for the city of Holts Summit. He stepped down after 2009 due to illness. He died on April 13, 2010 at the age of 36.

Holohan had been a police resource officer for North School. And he participated in the Shop-with-a-cop program during the holidays. He was a 1991 graduate of Plano East High School in Plano, Texas. And he was a 2001 graduate of the University of Missouri Police Academy.

Missouri State Representative Jeanie Riddle sponsored the legislation naming the section of U.S. 54 in Holohan's honor.
