Freshman setter Brittney Engelbrecht posted a double-double as the William Woods University Lady Owls volleyball team opened American Midwest Conference play with a 25-17, 25-19, 25-23 win over Williams Baptist (Arkansas) College on Friday night at Anderson Arena.
Engelbrecht led all players with 33 assists and was second on William Woods University (9-8) with 12 digs. Junior right-side hitter Cierra Merz and freshman outside hitter Abbi McKnelly both supplied 10 kills.
Senior libero Abbie O'Mara collected a game-high 13 digs.
William Woods hosted Lyon (Arkansas) College in an AMC tilt on Saturday. Results were not available at press time.
The Lady Owls play games against Peru State College and Evangel University at 6 and 8 p.m., respectively, on Tuesday in Springfield.
