Lady Hornets top off Lee's birthday, clip Bowling Green

Fulton Lady Hornets volleyball coach Coleman Lee received his birthday wish.

Junior right-side hitter Maddie Tobias logged five kills and five service aces Tuesday night, helping Fulton mark Lee's birthday with a 25-20, 25-19 win over Bowling Green at Roger D. Davis Gymnasium.

The Lady Hornets, coming off a two-set North Central Missouri Conference victory at rival Mexico on Monday night, raised their season record to 5-6-2.

"I told the girls that all I wanted for my birthday week was three wins, and we're on our way to that," Lee said. "They got me a good present."

Junior libero Amanda Allison also supplied five digs for Fulton, while senior setter Kat Berry recorded 13 assists and junior middle hitter Rylea Troesser had two blocks.

"This was one of those nights where things didn't necessarily go our way, so we were happy to pull out two sets and a W (win)," Lee said.

The Lady Hornets also triumphed in the junior varsity match 25-14 and 25-17. Colleen VanNorman tallied seven assists and five service aces, while Day'briana Wade chipped in with four kills and three digs.

Fulton hosts School of the Osage at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
