William Woods men, women place first among NAIA teams at Forest Park

The Owls and Lady Owls took first place among NAIA teams at the Forest Park Festival on Friday. The William Woods women earned seventh place overall in a field that included NCAA Division I teams, while the men finished eighth.

Senior Lee Anna Sanders clocked the Lady Owls' top time at 19 minutes, 17 second to finish 32nd. Junior Samantha Brolaski took 47th in 19:46 and freshman Hannah Rutherford set a personal-best result of 20:04 to placed 53rd.

Freshman Jami Brandow posted a 59th-place time of 20:58, while senior Alex Apperson took 61st place in 21:05.

Junior Kaleb Wilson had a season-best run, taking 15th place in 19:33 to guide the William Woods men. Freshman Kyle Gabrielson finished 39th in 20:36 and redshirt senior Blake Clowers took 41st with a result of 20:39.

Freshman Phillip Kulpinski placed 49th in 21:34 and senior Reid Schmit clocked a 21:45 to earn 52nd place. Sophomore Timothy Ward took 59th place in 22:55 and junior Tyler Jones' time of 23:27 earned him 62nd place.

Both teams run at the Missouri Southern Stampede at 9 a.m. Saturday.
