Fueled by medal finishes from sophomores Caitlyn Chapman and Kallie Guthrie, the Lady Bulldogs came in third overall at the Vienna Invitational on Wednesday.
Chapman posted a time of 24 minutes, 46.96 seconds in taking seventh individually in the varsity girls' race, while Guthrie came in 15th in 26:11.70.
Four freshmen also placed for South Callaway. Elli Luebbert was 24th in 28:40.50, Greta Cross finished 27th in 29:25.31, Kaci Jordan placed 30th in 30:31.10, and Ashley Potter took 35th in 35:12.77.
In the varsity boys' division, senior Terry Miles directed South Callaway with a 30th-place time of 21:50.43. Also placing for the Bulldogs were freshman Nickolas Rodriguez, 52nd in 24:26.05; freshman Austin Clubb, 56th in 24:39.26; freshman Caleb Diehl, 57th in 25:02.66, and junior Roger Rodriguez, 60th in 25:28.41.
Guiding South Callaway in the middle school girls' race was eighth-grader Mattie Hampton, who took 17th in 13:25. Seventh-graders Ember Atkins (14:30) and Samantha Thieret (15:39) placed 24th and 32nd, respectively.
In the middle school boys' division, eighth-grader Gabe Williamson paced South Callaway with his 20th-place finish of 11:13. Other place-finishers for the Bulldogs included seventh-grader Nicholas Garrett, 40th in 13:20; eighth-grader Brendan Smith, 46th in 13:47, and seventh-grader Nathaniel Shuler, 50th in 14:48.
South Callaway's varsity teams don't compete again until the Fulton Invitational at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 20. The middle school squads run at Bowling Green at 4 p.m. Monday.
