Lady Wildcats golf team captures Osage Tournament title

Kelley sisters produce medal performances

OSAGE BEACH - The New Bloomfield Lady Wildcats golf team took home a title this time around.

Sparked by medalist efforts from twin senior sisters Brooke and Ashley Kelley, New Bloomfield picked up the team championship at the School of the Osage Tournament on Wednesday at Dogwood Hills Golf Resort.

The Lady Wildcats - who took second place at the Paris Tournament on Sept. 3 - compiled a 396 total on Wednesday to prevail in the seven-team field. Sacred Heart came in second with a 421, while Osage was third with a 426.

Brooke Kelley shot a personal-best 82 to finish fourth individually and Ashley Kelley equalled her low score with an 89 to place seventh. Freshman Alexandra Morningstar followed with a personal-best 106 and junior Hannah Cornman was next with a 119.

"I'm thrilled for the girls and really happy for the successes they're having," New Bloomfield head coach Debbie Cuno said. "They work hard, take it very seriously and it shows.

"However, they're never satisfied, which is a good thing."

The Lady Wildcats play at Lake of the Woods Golf Course in Columbia at 4 p.m. Monday.
