William Woods goes undefeated at Avila Tournament

The Lady Owls capped off their unblemished run at the Avila Tournament with a sweep of Benedictine University-Springfield on Saturday.

William Woods (6-5) prevailed 25-14, 25-10 and 25-22 to win its fourth match in a row.

Lady Owls freshman setter Brittney Engelbrecht registered a double-double, posting team highs in assists (35) and digs (10).

William Woods connected on 33.7 percent of their attacks with junior outside hitter Lauren Rodewald produced a team-high 14 kills.

Freshman outside hitter Abbi McKnelly joined Engelbrecht in attaining a double-double in the Lady Owls' four-set win over Bethel University (19-25, 25-19, 25-20 and 25-15) on Saturday.

McKnelly finished with 11 kills and 15 digs, while Engelbrecht handed out 39 assists and pitched in 14 digs.

Senior libero Abbie O'Mara collected a team-high 21 digs and senior outside hitter Kristen Bauer led William Woods with 12 kills as the team had a 15.7 percent attack mark.

The Lady Owls host MidAmerica Nazarene University at 7 p.m. tonight.
