North Callaway bows at Hallsville for first loss of the season

The Ladybirds' undefeated start to the season was halted with a 3-1 loss to the Lady Indians on Monday night.

North Callaway (4-1) totaled just six hits and scored its lone run in the top of the third inning when senior shortstop Elaine Brinker scored on junior first baseman Madison Ausfahl's two-out, RBI double.

Brinker and Ausfahl both finished the game 2-for-3.

Ladybirds senior pitcher Danielle Cassidy was saddled with the complete-game loss. Cassidy (2-1) fanned eight batters, but allowed three earned runs on four hits and three walks.

Hallsville starter Ashley Reed struck out six in going the distance for the win.

North Callaway's JV team improved to 3-1 with a 16-2, four-inning victory.

The Ladybirds host Clopton in an Eastern Missouri Conference contest at 5 p.m. tonight.
