McNamara notches hat trick, Lady Owls blank Lady Blue Jays

William Woods junior midfielder Jordan McNamara's hat trick highlighted the Lady Owls' big offensive day as they topped Westminster 7-0 on Sunday at Firley Field.

McNamara posted her goals in 12th, 52nd and 58th minutes, respectively as William Woods (1-2) outshot the Lady Blue Jays 38-9.

McNamara assisted on junior defenseman Sarah Krispin's goal in the 13th minute. Redshirt junior Kaitlyn Wideman scored in the 43rd minute off an assist from senior midfielder Ashley Deckard to send the Lady Owls into halftime up 3-0.

Freshman midfielder Jaclyn Zilch pushed William Woods to a 6-0 advantage in the 82nd minute off an assist from freshman midfielder Jill Turner and sophomore midfielder Jenna Vogt added an unassisted goal in the 88th minute to finish the scoring.

Junior goalkeeper Ashley Parisi notched two saves for the Lady Owls.

Westminster junior forward Tayisah Pohtos scored both her team's goals in its 2-0 road victory over the University of the Ozarks on Saturday.

Pohtos broke a scoreless halftime tie with a goal in the 46th minute via an assist from freshman midfielder Payton Beeler. Freshman defender Honor Kehde assisted on Pohtos' second goal to cap off the scoring in the 76th minute.

The Lady Blue Jays (1-2) posted 12 shots, while sophomore goalkeeper Ellen Woolsey saved all three Ozark shots she faced.

William Woods hosts Central Methodist at 5 p.m. tonight. Westminster will host Millikin University this Saturday at 3 p.m.
