Lady Hornets volleyball team logs first win

Victory is No. 1 for Lee as Fulton head caoch

Coleman Lee has found the win column as the Fulton Lady Hornets' first-year volleyball coach.

Guided by junior libero Amanda Allison's nine digs and three aces, Fulton topped the Eugene Lady Eagles 25-15 and 25-21 for the Lady Hornets' first victory of the season Thursday night.

"It always feels good to win, but we lost focus in the second set, so we definitely still have things to work on to make sure we finish games," Lee said.

Junior outside hitter Madison Dreste added eight kills for Fulton (1-3), while senior setter Kat Berrey distributed 13 assists. Senior middle hitter Madison Murphy recorded two blocks.

"I think, at times, our confidence was better tonight and we didn't shy away from the ball in big moments," Lee said. "We did finally have the confidence to finish the game and put the game away when we needed to."

Fulton (1-3) topped Eugene in the junior varsity match 25-15 and 26-24.

The Lady Hornets open pool play in their own 28th-annual Fulton Tournament against California at 8 a.m. Saturday at Roger D. Davis Gymnasium. Fulton will follow with matches against Savannah and Owensville.
