Owls soccer team shuts out Culver-Stockton

CANTON - Freshman goalkeeper Conor Cable responded with six saves to earn his first career shutout Tuesday in the William Woods University men's soccer team's 3-0 victory over Culver-Stockton College.

Sophomore Anthony Moscatello put William Woods University (2-0-1) on top with the only goal it would need when he scored in the 12th minute off an assist from senior Luca Stroeter. Junior Alex Severino then took a pass from senior Paulo Conelian and scored 2 minutes later to make it 2-0.

Conelian supplied his second assist on sophomore Jesse Jordan's goal, also coming in the first half, to wrap up the Owls' scoring.

William Woods outshot Culver-Stockton (1-1-0) by an 18-14 margin.

The Owls play their home opener against Ottawa (Kansas) University at 7 tonight at Firley Field.
