Lady Wildcats golf team comes in second at Paris tourney

Kelley sisters finish in top two individual spots

PARIS, Mo. - The New Bloomfield Lady Wildcats golf team is starting to show signs of hitting its stride.

Senior twin sisters Brooke and Ashley Kelley were the top two individual finishers Wednesday in helping steer New Bloomfield to a second-place team finish at the Paris Tournament.

Brooke Kelley shot an 87 to claim medalist honors and Ashley Kelley was runner-up with a 93 as the Lady Wildcats logged a 413 team total. Freshman Alexandra Morningstar was next with a 114 and junior Hannah Cornman provided a 119 for New Bloomfield.

New Bloomfield came in eight shots behind first-place Harrisburg (405) in the 10-team field. Mexico was third with a 427.

"Brooke and Ashley have been searching for their rhythm and both seem to be getting into a groove," Lady Wildcats head coach Debbie Cuno said. "They were pleased, but for us to finish second as a team they know they had to have the support from our third and fourth positions.

"It was a great day and we were very pleased."

New Bloomfield travels to Eagle Knoll Golf Course in Hartsburg for a quadrangular with host Southern Boone, Centralia and Eugene at 4 p.m. today.
