Ladybirds bow to Russellville in District 7 volleyball quarterfinals

Junior middle hitter Bethany Bloss led the No. 5 seed Ladybirds with seven kills and two blocks in a 25-17 and 25-23 loss to the No. 4 Russellville Lady Indians on Monday in the first round of the Class 2, District 7 tournament.

North Callaway ends its inaugural volleyball season 3-13.

After bowing in the first set, the Ladybirds grabbed a 23-21 second-set advantage before the Lady Indians closed them out.

Junior middle hitter Destri Eichman led North Callaway with nine assists, while junior setter Bailey Langworthy handed out a team-leading 16 assists.

"I'm very happy with the team's performance tonight," Ladybirds head coach Amy Spence said. "They never stopped. Overall, the team exceeded my season expectations; we'll miss the three seniors, but the girls coming back have a bright future."
