William Woods downs AMC foe Hannibal-LaGrange

The Lady Owls scored four unanswered goals to topple the Lady Trojans 4-1 in American Midwest Conference play Thursday.

Stephanie Hall put Hannibal-La Grange University on top in the first minute on an assist from Juliana Lopes-Roberto.

William Woods University (5-5-2, 4-1-2) tied the match in the 6th minute when senior forward Jamie Palermo tallied a goal off senior midfielder Ashley Deckard's assist.

Junior forward Jordan McNamara notched what proved to be the winning goal on a shared assist from Deckard and Palermo in the 9th minute. Senior midfielder Rachel Meyer sent the Lady Owls into halftime up 3-1 on a strike in the 35th minute from junior midfielder Mackenzie Cork's assist.

McNamara then scored her second goal on an unassisted effort in the 48th minute.

Sophomore goalkeeper Brittany Griffin saved four of the five shots taken by Hannibal-LaGrange. The Lady Owls also collected five shots.

William Woods takes on Benedictine University-Springfield (Illinois) in an AMC road match at 1 p.m. Saturday.
