New Bloomfield's Kelley sisters complete first rounds at Class 1 golf meet

New Bloomfield senior twins Brooke and Ashley Kelley are separated by just one stroke after the first round of the Class 1 girls' golf state championships on Monday at Rivercut Golf Club.

Brooke Kelley - a returning state qualifier - shot a 20-over-par 92 to finish in a three-way tie for 38th place with John Burroughs' Maya Menon and Helias' Lauren Plunkett.

Ashley Kelley - a first-time state participant - posted a 21-over-par 93 and is in a four-way tie for 42nd with Lutheran South's Elizabeth Kirkman and Makenzi Turley and Rebecca Westbrook, both of Richmond.

Mt. Vernon's Ashley Childers is the individual leader with an even-par 72. MICDS leads the team standings with a total of 330.

Ashley Kelley begins her final round from the first hole this morning at 9:06, while Brooke Kelley starts her final 18 holes from the first tee at 9:15 a.m.
