Lady Blue Jays win team title, Blue Jays place third at Illinois College

The Westminster women edged out second-place Hannibal LaGrange by one point to secure the team title at the Illinois College Invitational on Saturday.

The Lady Blue Jays totaled 57 points, while the Lady Trojans tallied 58. The Westminster men (108) placed behind first-place Hannibal-LaGrange (30) and runner-up Knox (108).

Freshman Shannon McCaul clocked the Lady Blue Jays' top time of 25 minutes, 0.12 seconds to claim sixth place, while junior Claire Gibby ran a 25:21.86 to come in ninth.

Freshman Madison Zack (26:09.90) and junior Brier Skogsberg (26:19.34) finished 16th and 17, respectively, while freshman Taylor Howard (South Callaway) produced a 20th-place time of 26:57.79.

Senior Tiara Pettijohn claimed 31st in 28:07.15 and senior Danielle Smulczenski took 54th place in 31:53.03.

Senior Daniel Lindaman fueled the Westminster men, crossing the finish line in 27:53.86 to place third. Junior Jesse Edwards logged a sixth-place effort of 28:18.25, while freshman Nathan Wilson earned 19th in 29:37.88.

Junior Nathan Fox (31:07.50) placed 37th and senior Spencer Woodford was the final Blue Jay finisher, running a 39:45.84 to garner 66th place.

Both Westminster teams run at the St. Louis College of Pharmacy Invitational at 9 a.m. on Oct. 25.
