South Callaway drops eight-inning affair to Tolton

The Lady Bulldogs collected 11 hits in getting clipped by the Lady Blazers 3-2 in eight innings of their regular-season finale on Monday night.

South Callaway (17-8) took a 1-0 lead on senior catcher Anna Bartley's RBI double in the bottom of the third.

Father Tolton evened it up with a run in the top of the seventh, then plated a pair in the eighth to grab a 3-1 advantage. Junior third baseman Ashley Miller drove in the Lady Bulldogs' final tally on an RBI double in the bottom of the eighth.

Miller finished 3-for-4 from the plate. Bartley, senior second baseman Paige Brown and sophomore shortstop Nicole Horstman all were 2-for-4 for South Callaway.

Sophomore Konnor Arrowood fanned 13 in the complete-game loss. She allowed three runs - one earned - on five hits and gave up a walk.

The Lady Bulldogs drew the No. 3 seed in the Class 2, District 10 tournament in New Bloomfield. They'll play No. 6 Hermann (5-15) at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

"We have to take care of Hermann first and then go from there," South Callaway head coach David Odneal said. "That's our task at this point."
