Fulton man arrested Monday after vehicle pursuit Sunday

Man's mother arrested for allegedly assaulting deputy during her son's arrest at her Fulton home

A Fulton man was arrested Monday and faces a slew of charges connected to a high-speed chase over the weekend. His mother also was arrested after allegedly attacking an officer while they were taking her son into custody.

deputy with the sheriff's office attempted to stop a black Jeep Grand Cherokee for speeding down County Road 304 in Fulton, near the Fulton airport, according to a Callaway County Sheriff's Office press release.

The Jeep allegedly drove away from the deputy and sped up to 100 mph. For more than 20 miles, deputies pursued the vehicle down paved and gravel roads in the Fulton and Millersburg areas. Deputies found the vehicle upside down and abandoned on County Road 343 in Millersburg.

Callaway County Sheriff's deputies, Fulton Police and the Missouri State Highway Patrol searched a wooded area near where the vehicle was found, but did not locate the driver.

"Information was developed that the driver of the vehicle was Joshua Black," a Callaway County Sheriff's Office press release stated.

Deputies followed that lead on Moday. They discovered that Joshua Black was staying with his mother, Stacy Black. Deputies arrived at their home on the 700 block of Nichols Street in Fulton and eventually arrested Joshua Black.

Joshua Black is charged with failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, resisting arrest (creating a substantial risk of serious injury to another person) - felony, unlawful use of drug paraphernalia, C&I driving, exceeding the posted speed limit and leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident - felony.

During Joshua Black's arrest, Stacy Black allegedly assaulted the arresting deputy. She was arrested and charged with assaulting a law enforcement officer and interfering with a felony arrest.

Joshua Black was incarcerated and Stacy Black was bonded.
