Lady Owls soccer team plays to tie with Missouri Baptist

The William Woods University Lady Owls soccer team played to a 1-1 double-overtime tie with Missouri Baptist University in American Midwest Conference play Tuesday night at Firley Field.

Senior midfielder Brittainy German gave William Woods University an early edge when she scored her fourth goal of the season in the 9th minute, off an assist from senior midfielder Rachel Meyer. Missouri Baptist University evened the match with a goal in the 62nd minute, and that would turn out to be the final score of the contest.

The Lady Owls edged the Lady Spartans 15-14 in shots, but Missouri Baptist owned a narrow 7-6 advantage in shots on goal. William Woods produced three corner kicks, while the Lady Spartans had seven.

Sophomore goalkeeper Brittany Griffin tallied six saves for the Lady Owls.

William Woods plays an AMC match at Hannibal-LaGrange College at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
