Westminster falls to Wartburg

Sophomore guard Andrea Zalis collected team highs of 22 points and eight rebounds, but the Lady Blue Jays succumbed to the Lady Knights 75-68 on Tuesday night.

Zalis hit on 6-of-16 field goals, went 4-for-8 from 3-point range and converted 6-of-7 from the free throw line for Westminster.

Junior point guard Mackenzie Haddox pitched in with 15 points and three assists as the Lady Blue Jays finished 40 percent (23-of-57) from the field and 37.5 percent (9-of-24) from beyond the arc.

Westminster (1-2) was outrebounded 44-32 and committed 19 turnovers, leading to 22 Wartburg points.

Kailey Kladivo led the Lady Saints with 27 points and eight rebounds, while Morgan Neundorf added 18 points. The Lady Saints connected on 47.6 percent (30-of-63) from the field and 22.2 percent (4-of-18) from 3-point range.

The Lady Blue Jays kick off St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play when they host Webster at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
