Lady Owls' bow to No. 8 Northwestern Ohio in NAIA Opening Round

William Woods couldn't muster enough offense to prolong its season.

The Lady Owls posted four shots on goal and five attempts overall in a 4-0 loss to the No. 8 University of Northwestern Ohio Racers in the NAIA Opening Round on Saturday.

Northwestern Ohio (19-1-1) got on board in the 21st minute on the first of three Alice Coyne goals. It was the first goal allowed by the Lady Owls in five games.

Coyne tallied an unassisted strike in the 48th minute, then completed the hat trick in the 58th minute off an assist by Hanna Ruohomaa.

The Racers finished their scoring in the 75th minute on Kaitlynn Gronas' goal on an assist by Marie Adram.

William Woods sophomore goalkeeper Brittany Griffin finished with eight saves.

Northwestern Ohio will play either Trinity (Illinois) International University or The Master's College (California) in a second-round game at 4 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1 in Orange Beach, Alabama.
