Five Westminster players earn all-UMAC recognition

Senior Joe Plassmeyer and sophomores Kyree Hart and Mike Washington picked up first-team, all-Upper Midwest Athletic Conference honors Wednesday.

Senior Kyle Bryant and junior Bret Robertson both received second-team accolades.

Plassmeyer garnered the nod at quarterback after leading the conference in passing yards per game (264.3) and tying for second in touchdown passes (23). He completed 55.7 percent of his passes (236-of-424) for 2,643 yards and 13 interceptions, while also rushing for three scores.

Washington was a first-team wide receiver after hauling in 60 passes for 685 yards - 11.4 average - and six touchdowns. His per-game receiving average of 68.5 yards ranked him second in the conference.

Hart racked up 31.5 tackles at cornerback, including 4.5 for loss. He finished with four interceptions, four forced fumbles and two sacks, while returning two fumbles for touchdowns.

Bryant was a second-team pick on the defensive line after notching 29 tackles, with 5.5 going for losses. He picked up a pair of sacks, broke up three passes and forced a fumble.

Robertson claimed second-team status at free safety after leading Westminster College with 66 tackles, while adding two interceptions, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. He set a school record with 22 tackles in the Blue Jays' season-opening 42-28 loss to Hendrix.

The Blue Jays finished the season at 6-4 overall and fourth in the UMAC with a 6-3 mark.
