Lady Owls suffer exhibition loss to NCAA Div. I Western Illinois

Senior guard Destani Stensrud logged a team-high 11 points - including 7-of-7 free throws - in the William Woods University Lady Owls' 89-42 exhibition loss to NCAA Division I Western Illinois on Monday night.

Stensrud finished 2-of-7 from the floor, as did junior guard Marissa Webb, who finished with five points. Senior guard Paige Stewart also scored five points, while senior guard Blake French and junior guard Nia Lateju both pitched in with four.

William Woods shot just 26 percent (12-of-46) as a team and was outrebounded 46-28.

Ashley Luke led Western Illinois with 18 points. Tori Neimann added 11 points and Sophie Reichelt provided 10 points as the Fighting Leathernecks shot 45 percent (33-of-73) from the field.

The Lady Owls (4-1) begin American Midwest Conference play at Stephens College in Columbia at 7 p.m. Thursday.
