One person rescued in Fulton house fire

One person had to be rescued during a house fire Monday morning in Fulton.

The Fulton Fire Department responded to 725 Grand Street around 5:37 a.m.

According to fire department reports, fire crews found heavy smoke coming from the roof of a two-story residential structure.

A resident and a dog were on the top of the roof and fire fighters were able to rescue the two.

Fire crews made entry into the second floor of the structure and were met with intense heat and heavy black smoke.

Fire fighters were able to bring the fire under control with an aggressive fire attack.

One firefighter sustained a knee injury after falling on the ice covered roadway.

The resident of the home received minor smoke inhalation and was checked out by EMS personnel and was released.

The residence had smoke detectors, but they failed to activate.

The resident was awoke by the smoke and was able to crawl out of a second story window.

The Red Cross was dispatched to the scene to assist the home owner with their needs.

Officials from the Fulton Fire Department and Missouri State Fire Marshal's office investigated the fire and it was an accident due to an electrical problem. Damage was estimated at $60,000.
