Lady Owls draw Northwestern Ohio in NAIA Opener

The William Woods women's soccer team will oppose a nationally-ranked squad in the NAIA Opening Round.

The Lady Owls will tangle with the No. 8-ranked University of Northwestern Ohio Racers at 1 p.m. Saturday in Lima, Ohio.

William Woods (12-6-3) reached the opening around after defeating the Missouri Baptist Lady Spartans 4-3 in penalty kicks to claim the American Midwest Conference tournament title on Nov. 13 in St. Louis. The championship is the Lady Owls' first since 2001.

The Racers (18-1-1) earned the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference's automatic bid after blanking Siena Heights University 1-0 in that league's tournament title game on Nov. 14.

The winner will play either Trinity (Illinois) International University or The Master's College (California) in second-round play at 4 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1 in Orange Beach, Alabama.
