Sophomore guard Andrea Zalis paced four players in double figures with 17 points in the Lady Blue Jays' 75-70 season-opening win over the Big Blue at the CCIW/SLIAC Challenge on Saturday afternoon.
Zalis finished 7-of-12 from the field, while collecting five rebounds, four steals and three assists.
Junior point guard Mackenzie Haddox tallied 14 points and led Westminster College with seven rebounds. Junior point guard Kasey Gatson contributed 13 points and hit all three of her 3-point attempts, while junior guard Sadie Theroff added 12 points and finished 2-of-4 from behind the arc.
Westminster shot 53.8 percent from both the field (28-of-52) and 3-point range (7-of-13). The Lady Blue Jays finished with a 44-31 rebounding edge.
Westminster finishes tournament play against Elmhurst at 1 p.m. today.
