William Woods baseball team ranked in preseason NAIA poll

The William Woods University Owls baseball team, coming off its trip to the NAIA national tournament last year, was ranked No. 25 in the preseason NAIA Top 25 coaches' poll released Tuesday.

William Woods University was last ranked, at No. 23, in 2009. The Owls finished the 2014 season with a 39-12 record - setting a school record for wins - and qualified for the national tournament by winning the American Midwest Conference postseason tournament as the No. 3 seed.

William Woods was eliminated from the national tournament after going 0-2 at the Lawrenceville bracket in Georgia.

The Owls open the 2015 season against Bethel University in McKenzie, Tennessee, on Feb. 6.
