Trial set for Fulton man charged with third-degree assault

Scott A. Armstrong to appear before jury on Jan. 8

The trial date has been set for a Fulton man charged with third-degree assault after an incident involving a minor.

Scott A. Armstrong, 37, who allegedly put a teenage boy in a choke hold in March, will appear in front of a jury at 9 a.m. on Jan. 8, according to online court records.

The boy and his parents reported the alleged incident to the Callaway County Sheriff's Office on March 5, according to the probable cause statement. They reported that Armstrong, who worked as a federal law enforcement officer, put the teen in a choke hold, cutting off his air and leading him to temporarily lose consciousness.

Armstrong is a member of the Boone County Sheriff's Department Cyber Crimes Task Force.

Armstrong pleaded not guilty in June. Callaway County Prosecuting Attorney Chris Wilson told the Fulton Sun previously that the charge against Armstrong is determined on intent. Therefore, the alleged victim's age does not mean that Armstrong will definitely be charged with assault of a minor.
