William Woods' season over after AMC tourney loss

The fifth-seeded Owls' run in the American Midwest Conference tournament ended in a 4-1 quarterfinal loss to the No. 4 Trojans on Saturday.

Hannibal-LaGrange (11-7) moved in front in the 15th minute via a strike by Ignacio Garrido.

William Woods (11-6-2) tied it up less than a minute later on senior defender Jake Hawes' goal on an assist by senior midfielder Sebastian Burich.

Garrido scored the winning goal a minute after that, taking passes from Manuel Saez and Canamero Carrasco to put the Trojans ahead.

Ithamar Junior extended Hannibal-LaGrange's lead with a goal in the 63rd minute off a Garrido corner kick. Garrido provided Hannibal-LaGrange with its final goal, completing the hat trick in the 87th minute with help from a Nathan Sapp corner kick.

The Owls were outshot 9-4 on the day. Freshman goalkeeper Conor Cable logged five saves in net.

The Trojans play at top-seeded Lindenwood-Belleville at 1 p.m. today in a semifinal contest.
