Three Lady Owls finished in double figures in a 58-55 loss to the Lady Patriots on Friday at the Columbia College Classic on Friday.
Junior forward Nia Lateju posted team highs of 16 points and eight rebounds, while senior guard Blake French finished with 11 points on 4-of-6 shooting from the field. Junior guard Marissa Webb added 10 points - including 2-of-5 3-pointers - as William Woods shot 18-of-56 from the field (32.1 percent) and 4-of-18 (22.2 percent) from long distance.
The Lady Owls - receiving votes in the NAIA National Poll - outrebounded Cumberlands 45-42. Lady Patriots center Brooke Forsythe logged a game-high 23 points as Cumberlands connected on 36.4 percent of its field goals (24-of-66).
William Woods (1-1) concluded play at the classic against Bethel (Kansas) College on Saturday, but results were not available at press time.
The Lady Owls return to the floor at Sterling (Kansas) College next Friday at 7 p.m.
