North Callaway to hold library fundraiser at Columbia book store

North Callaway Schools are taking over the Columbia Mall Barnes & Noble on Saturday.

The district is hosting a Barnes & Noble Book Fair from noon until 5 p.m., with a portion of purchases to go toward helping the high school library upgrade its nonfiction and reference sections.

According to a press release, for purchases to count toward the North Callaway book fair, patrons must present a voucher number - 11475324 - or tell Barnes & Noble staff they want their purchase to benefit the library. Visitors will also have the opportunity to purchase books directly for the library - there will be books on display from the library's wish list.

Events throughout the day will include:

•A Create Found Poetry table from noon to 3 p.m. near the entrance.

•A performance by the high school choir at 2 p.m.

•Story time with the North Callaway cheerleaders at 3 p.m. in the Children's Corner.

•Skits by the high school drama club and folk music by Clara and Ella Wright at 3:45 p.m. in the music department.

•Story time with the football team at 4:30 p.m. in the Children's Corner.

The T-bird mascot also will make appearances from 1-2 p.m. and 3-4 p.m. and there will be student art on display throughout the store.

Those who are unable to attend the fair in person can also support the North Callaway library online at www.barnesandnoble.com by entering the 11475324 voucher number. The code is valid for online purchases Nov. 8-13.

North Callaway Librarian Justin Hamm said he is hoping for support from North Callaway patrons.

"The high school library has been working hard to upgrade our nonfiction section and all the purchases will go to support that cause," Hamm said. "We really hope people will come out in their green and black and support the library and celebrate our district."
