Lady Blue Jays finish third, Blue Jays fifth at SLIAC championships

The Westminster women logged five top-20 finishes to finish third in the team standings at the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championships on Saturday.

The Lady Blue Jays posted a team score of 72, finishing behind champion Greenville (41) and runner-up Spalding.

The Westminster men finished fifth as a team with a score of 100. Spalding claimed the team title with a 41.

Freshman Claire Gibby paced the Lady Blue Jays with a fifth-place time of 24 minutes, 14.29 seconds and freshman Brier Skogsberg earned 13th place in 25:20.94.

Freshman Taylor Howard (South Callaway) garnered 17th in 25:50.84, while freshmen Madison Zack (25:57.39) and Shannon McCaul (25:59.16) took 18th and 19th place, respectively.

Freshman Alexandra Rauscher claimed 34th place in 27:35.35 and freshman Tiara Pettijohn ran a 28:07.54 to secure 39th.

Gibby earned all-SLIAC first-team honors, Skogsberg took home a second-team nod and Pettijohn was named to the all-Sportsmanship team.

Junior Jesse Edwards finished seventh in 27:02.42 to guide the Blue Jays. Senior Daniel Lindaman (13th) ran a 27:40.32 and sophomore Glen Tuebner finished 22nd in 28:14.57.

Freshman Nathan Wilson earned 31st in 29:04.62, junior Nathan Fox (29:48.41) finished 36th and senior Spencer Woodford clocked a 62nd-place time of 39:54.21.

Edwards was an all-SLIAC first-team pick, Lindaman procured second-team recognition and Woodford was named to the all-Sportsmanship team.

Both Westminster teams will run in a NCAA Regional on Nov. 15 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
