William Woods sets school record with AMC win over Freed-Hardeman

The Lady Owls set a school record with their eighth AMC victory after blanking the Lady Lions 2-0 on Thursday.

William Woods University (10-6-2, 8-1-2 American Midwest Conference) won for a seventh time in its last eight matches and secured the No. 3 seed in the AMC Tournament later this week.

Senior midfielder Rachel Meyer put the Lady Owls on the scoreboard Thursday, tallying her 10th goal of the season in the 10th minute.

Junior midfielder Jordan McNamara scored her 13th goal of the season 47 seconds into the second half on senior midfielder Ashley Deckard's assist.

William Woods easily outpaced Freed-Hardeman in shots 28-5, while sophomore goalkeeper Brittany Griffin recorded two saves to earn the shutout.

The Lady Owls now wait to find out their opponent in the AMC Tournament, which begins Friday.
