Lady Blue Jays volleyball team swept in opener of Washington Invitational

The Westminster College Lady Blue Jays volleyball team converted just 1.9 percent of its attacks in a 25-14, 25-13 and 25-20 loss to No. 5 Washington at the Washington University Invitational on Friday.

Sophomore setter Kayla Reeg finished with a double-double to direct Westminster (16-11), supplying 17 assists and a team-high 13 digs.

Sophomore opposite hitter Gabby LaRose notched 10 digs and sophomore outside hitter Riley Lawrence paced the Lady Blue Jays with five kills.

Westminster continued tournament play Saturday with games against Transylvania (Kentucky) University and Millikin University. Results were not available at press time.

The Lady Blue Jays finish up their regular season with a St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match at Principia (Illinois) University at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
