Lady Hornets soccer team drops season opener to Dixon 4-1

DIXON - Senior forward Victoria Langley accounted for Fulton's lone score as the Lady Hornets soccer team opened its season with a 4-1 loss to Dixon on Friday night.

Fulton jumped out to a 1-0 advantage when Langley tallied an unassisted goal in the 9th minute of the first half. Dixon tied the match in the 24th minute, then went in front to stay with a goal 3 minutes later. The Lady Bulldogs padded their lead with goals in the 12th and 27th minutes of the second half.

EMO Senior Showcase

KINGDOM CITY - North Callaway will play host to the sixth-annual Eastern Missouri Conference Senior Showcase games Friday night.

The girls' matchup will start at 6 p.m., followed by a 3-point contest that will crown girls', boys' and overall champions, and then the boys' game.

ST. LOUIS - Junior right fielder Nick Spagnola, senior left fielder Zach Nichols and junior third baseman Austin Clapp each hit three-run home runs and combined for 11 RBI to spark the Owls' wild AMC victory Friday.

William Woods University's three homers were a season high and Harris-Stowe State University blasted four long balls of its own as the two teams combined for 33 hits. Defensive lapses tormented the Hornets as they committed seven errors in suffering their 33rd straight American Midwest Conference loss dating back to the 2012 season.
