The Owls were just 5-for-20 with runners on base in an AMC home loss to the No. 25 Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) Lions on Friday afternoon.

The Lions took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on left fielder Lincoln Lakoff's single off William Woods' senior starter Dane Smith. The Owls evened the game in the bottom of the inning on senior designated hitter Matt Thomas' single that scored junior center fielder Cody Stewart.

Both teams went scoreless in the second, but Freed-Hardeman responded with three runs in the third to take the advantage back. Shortstop Cole Veazey roped a two-run single off of Smith while designated hitter Storm Bates singled up the middle a few batters later.

Freed-Hardman scored one more in the fifth on a passed ball at home plate to put them out front 5-1.
