Next Thursday, the Fulton Garden Club will hold its annual garden tour consisting of five local gardens in Fulton. The featured homes will be those of Pat O' Rourke, Karen Mertens, Juanita Viegard, Betty Hardin, and Wanda Wickell.

This event, open to the public, will begin at the Fulton Library, where participants will be given a map and route of the tour locations and the order in which the locations will be viewed along the tour. Participants and members can meet at the library at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday to participate in the tour. The tour will require driving to different locations to view the selected Garden Club members' yards and gardens.

"It's a social event, something that most garden clubs do," said Karen Mertens. "It's a way of going out to see members' gardens and sharing flowers" and other gardening techniques.

Betty Hardin, a longtime Garden Club member and local resident is the chair of the Garden Tour. According to her husband, Hardin has been active in gardening most of her life, and she has really found a passion with the Gardon Club. Hardin's house will be one of the five featured on the tour route.

According to Garden Club President Cindy Baker, members of the Garden Club are from all over Callaway County, but the stops along the tour route are all in Fulton.
