For some participants in the tractor and truck pull at the Kingdom of Callaway County Fair, they were just doing what they know.

Dillon Dunlap, 19, of Fulton is a third-generation tractor puller.

"It's just in your blood," Dunlap said Wednesday night while watching his uncle take a turn shortly after he had his own run at it.

Dunlap, who has been competing in tractor pulls since he was 12, used his antique Massey Ferguson 50 - once used on the family farm to pull hay but has since been used in pulling competitions.

Shawn Smart of Tebbetts was also competing in the tractor pull with an antique McCormick Farmall he pulled from his great uncle's barn about four years ago. A plate on the side of the tractor reads "In Memory of Wilson S. Smart 11-11-1916 - 12-27-2009."

In addition to honoring his great uncle, Smart said it's a good way to spend time - giving him something to tinker with.

Final results from the truck and tractor pulls were not available at press time, look for results later this week in the Fulton Sun. The fair continues today with Missouri Farm Pullers beginning at 7 p.m.
