A court hearing for the murder trial of Jake Gastler took place Monday morning.
The hearing was scheduled to address a change of judge for the case. After both Callaway County Prosecuting Attorney Chris Wilson and defense attorney Justin Carver requested a change of judge, the case was reassigned to Division II Judge Gary Oxenhandler.
At this hearing, a change of venue proposal was also scheduled for Aug 4. No further decisions regarding the trial have been made.
Gastler, of Auxvasse, is accused of beating his neighbor to death and sending the neighbor's father to the hospital.
