"We're hoping everybody will have a great time with great food and phenomenal entertainment," Holts Summit special events coordinator Amy Burec said.

The Fulton Independence Day Parade will start promptly at 11 a.m. Friday. The parade grand marshals will be Korean War veterans who are able and willing to participate. A kids' bicycle decorating contest will also occur and those still wishing to enter a float can do so for free by picking up applications at Fulton City Hall or the Fulton Area Chamber of Commerce.

Those who intended to participate in the Fulton Street Fair parade are encouraged to bring their intended floats to the Independence Day Parade. All participants can begin gathering at 9 a.m. at the south entrance of William Woods on 12th Street. Proceedings will then move south on Nichols Street to 10th Street then turn onto Court Street and finish its route at Memorial Park on the corner of Court and 2nd Street.

A small program at Memorial Park will follow the parade with food and drink provided.

"I look forward to (the parade) and getting involved with it," parade organization committee member David Beaver said. "I think the community is getting more used to knowing there's going to be (a parade)."

Fireworks in Fulton, provided by the city and Fulton Country Club, begin at dusk and are best visible from Veterans Park adjacent to the country club on East 10th Street.
