COLUMBIA — Points were in surplus again for the William Woods University Lady Owls, and came from just about everyone.
Freshman center Kennedy Volkart delivered a team-high 13 points and 14 of 15 William Woods players scored Saturday afternoon as the Lady Owls dismantled undermanned Stephens College 82-46 in an American Midwest Conference mismatch.
The victory was the third in a row for William Woods, which improved to 12-5 overall and 5-4 in the AMC. The Lady Owls also scored at least 80 points for the fourth straight game.
Junior guard Verdis Lee Jr. scored 12 of his team-high 14 points in the first half as the host Blue Jays cruised to the SLIAC victory over the winless Beavers on Saturday afternoon.
Lee — a 2010 Fulton graduate — connected on 5-of-8 field goals and was 4-of-6 from 3-point range while adding three assists and three rebounds.
Westminster College (8-7, 5-3 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) led by as many as 22 points in the first half and carried a 41-22 advantage into halftime. Senior guard Jordan Jones was the only other double-figure scorer for the Blue Jays, coming off the bench to contribute 12 points.
