Auxvasse aldermen discuss RVs, easements

The Auxvasse Board of Aldermen considered some additions to its ordinance regarding mobile homes during Tuesday night's meeting.

Alderman Terry Walker raised the issue of recreational vehicles (RVs), noting he wants to make sure they're included in the ordinance - including language that would prohibit living in one.

Alderwoman Stephanie Leverett said the revisions also should include prohibiting parking RVs on Auxvasse streets.

"If you're looking at changing it, let's look at all the options," Leverett said.

Then there was some debate as to whether the city should allow RVs to be parked on residents' properties for any amount of time to allow for out-of-town guests vising friends and family.

"If my family comes down with their $50,000 RV and I have to tell them no, they have to get a hotel, I have a real problem with that," Alderman Mike Bickel said.

Walker also said he wanted the additions "to have some teeth."

"There needs to be repercussions," Walker said. "If they're in violation (of the ordinance), we need to be able to remove the vehicle."
