The Thunderbirds season-opening futility continued in a 69-36 loss to the Eagles on Monday.
North Callaway (0-7) trailed 12-10 after one quarter, but Southern Boone's 22-9 onslaught in the second pushed the Eagles to a 34-19 halftime advantage.
"We came out and played real hard in the first quarter, but we stopped playing hard," T-Birds head coach Matt Thomas said. "The players have to learn to play hard for four quarters against a really good team like Southern Boone."
Senior forward Michael Pezold paced North Callaway with 13 points and senior guard Brandon Hagedorn added 10.
Spencer Taggert logged a game-high 15 points for Southern Boone (7-2). Gannan Mueller scored 11 of his 13 points in the second quarter, while Skylar Jennings pitched in with 10.
The T-Birds' JV team fell 44-14 to drop to 1-6. Sam Althiser finished with six points.
North Callaway plays a junior varsity boys and varsity girls-boys' tripleheader at 4 p.m. Saturday at Wellsville.
