Eagles bow to Higbee 63-32 in home opener

The Missouri School for the Deaf Eagles shot just 30 percent as a team and were burdened by 34 turnovers in dropping their home opener to the Higbee Tigers 63-32 on Tuesday night.

MSD trailed 30-18 at halftime and 47-23 going into the fourth quarter.

Junior guard Joseph Allen led the Eagles (0-2) with 11 points, five rebounds and three assists. Senior forward Benson Goodwin also had eight points and collected a team-high 10 rebounds.

Will Clark topped Higbee with a game-high 22 points and Jesse Beal connected for 13.

MSD plays two games Saturday at the Sunflower Classic at the Kansas School for the Deaf in Olathe. The Eagles clash with the Oklahoma School for the Deaf at 10:30 a.m., then face host Kansas at 7:30 p.m.
