Westminster women bow to Rhodes

The Lady Blue Jays scored just 19 points and shot a dismal 24 percent from the field in the first half of a 66-52 home loss to the Lynx on Monday night.

Westminster College (2-4) made only 8-of-34 shots in the opening half and trailed by 12 at the break.

Sophomore guard Andrea Zalis provided the Lady Blue Jays with team highs of 12 points and nine rebounds. Sophomore forward Krista Armontrout added 10 points and six rebounds, while junior point guard Kasey Gatson tallied nine.

The Lady Blue Jays wrapped up the game shooting just 31 percent (18-of-58) as a team. Westminster was also outrebounded by a 51-35 margin.

Rhodes College (7-1) was led by Symone Daniels' double-double of 31 points and 13 rebounds. Sarah Johnson added 12 points as the Lynx shot 37 percent (26-of-71) from the field.

The Lady Blue Jays - who have lost two straight - host St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference foe Blackburn (Illinois) College at 3 p.m. Saturday.
