William Woods men score season low in AMC loss

The Owls totaled a season-low in points in their 82-53 American Midwest Conference loss to the Eagles on Saturday.

William Woods (3-6, 1-2 AMC) shot 42 percent from the floor in the first half, but still found themselves trailing 47-29 at halftime.

Owls junior forward DJ Johnson led the team with 12 points, while freshman forward Darrien Dicky scored 11 and collected a team-best seven rebounds.

On the day, William Woods shot 36 percent (20-of-55) and was outrebounded 35-30.

Williams Baptist's Abel Yekeh tallied a double-double with game highs of 21 points and 10 rebounds. James McClain also scored 21 points for the Eagles, including a 3-of-3 effort from 3-point range.

Tevin Howard posted 17 points for Williams Baptist and Aaron Hamby scored 12 as Williams Baptist converted 56 percent from the field (31-of-55) and 57 percent (12-of-21) from the 3-point line.

The Owls play at Haskell Indian Nations University at 4 p.m. this Saturday.
