Westminster men fall on the road to Greenville

The Lady Blue Jays finished 26 percent from the floor in a 50-40 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference loss to the Lady Panthers on Saturday.

Westminster (2-3, 1-1 SLIAC) hit just 16-of-62 field goals in the loss.

The Lady Blue Jays' shooting woes started early as they trailed 24-13 at halftime. Westminster was just 20 percent from 3-point range (5-of-20), while logging just 3-of-10 from the free throw line.

Junior point guard Kasey Gatson led the Lady Blue Jays with 10 points and led all players with four steals. Junior guard Mackenzie Haddox added eight points, while sophomore forward Andrea Zalis had a game-high 10 rebounds.

Greenville (2-3, 1-1) was led by guard Taylor Paulin's 12 points, while forward Kelly Lenz added seven points and led the Lady Panthers with eight rebounds.

The Lady Panthers shot 37 percent from the field (19-of-52) and bested Westminster in rebounding 48-38.

The Lady Blue Jays hosted Rhodes (Tennessee) College on Monday night. Results were not available at press time.

Westminster hosts Blackburn (Illinois) College at 6 p.m. this Saturday at Westminster Gymnasium.
